‘ Mrs. Edward LaBean died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. McWharter, at the ripe old age of ninety five years. She was the mother of ten children, all of whom survive her. They are David, Frank, Joseph, Peter, and Daniel LaBean, and Mrs. W. Frankhouse, Mrs. Joe Bowen, Mrs. Frank Tatro, and Mrs. Peter McWharter. She is also survived by a brother, Frank, Detroit, who is 92 years of age. Mrs. LaBean was born in France and crossed to Canada in 1819, to Michigan during the Civil War, and has been a resident of Piconning 35 years. Later we learned she had 102 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at St. Michael’s Church Tuesday morning. ‘

After many years of research, this is the corrected obituary of Edwidge LaBean
‘ Edwidge LaBean, 87 years, died Sunday, February 17, 1918 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter (Susanne) McQuarter. She had been a resident of the Pinconning Area for 35 years. She was born January 4, 1831 at St. Jacques, Montcalm Co., Quebec to the late Pierre Senever and Marie Angelique Beaudry.
In 1840 the family moved to Monroe County, Michigan where she married Jean Baptiste Labine on November 7, 1848 in St. Mary Church, Monroe. The became the parents of seventeen children, nine survive her: Mrs. Louis (Rosalie) Frankhouse, Francis John “Frank” (Melenisse) “Minnie” LaBean, Mrs. Francis “Frank” (Marie Desanges) Tatro, David (Josephine) LaBean, Joseph (Mary Lea) Labine, Peter (Therese) LaBean, Mrs. Joseph (Josephine) Bowen, Mrs. Peter (Susan) McQuarter, and Daniel (Elizabeth) LaBean. A brother, Francis “Frank” Senever, River Rouge, Michigan who is 80 years old. She was preceded by three husbands, Jean Baptiste Labine, Joseph Martin and Louis Sampson and children, Sophranie, Alphonse Olivier, Jacob, Elisa, Marie Octavie, Mrs. Joseph (Elizabeth) Brancheau, one unnamed and one stillborn child. Also surviving are 102 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. The funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 19, at St. Michael Church with burial in the church cemetery. ‘
