‘ Mrs. Edward LaBean died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. McWharter, at the ripe old age of ninety five years. She was the mother of ten children, all of whom survive her. They are David, Frank, Joseph, Peter, and Daniel LaBean, and Mrs. W. Frankhouse, Mrs. Joe Bowen, Mrs. Frank Tatro, and Mrs. Peter McWharter. She is also survived by a brother, Frank, Detroit, who is 92 years of age. Mrs. LaBean was born in France and crossed to Canada in 1819, to Michigan during the Civil War, and has been a resident of Piconning 35 years. Later we learned she had 102 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at St. Michael’s Church Tuesday morning. ‘

Questions/Errors notes for Joseph (Spouse 1)

The Detroit City Death Records8290,8283 lists the age of Joseph LaBean (Joseph Labenne) at the time of his death as 59 years while all other sources8281,8213 provide the age of Joseph Labine at death as 68 years. The Joseph LaBean (Joseph Labenne) died in an automobile accident in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan on 8 July 1932. It is not certain if Joseph LaBean (Joseph Labenne) is the same person as Joseph Labine.

Margaret LaBenne8291 sent correspondence that indicates that the person that died in the automobile accident was not Joseph Labine, husband of Mary Lea Julian, but her husband’s great-grandfather Joseph LaBenne, who is a different person. This would explain the difference in age of the person who died in the automobile accident (59 years of age at death, born in 1873) and the birth year of the Joseph Labine who married Mary Lea Julian (born in 1864).

The two records about the death of a Joseph LaBean (Joseph Labenne) in an automobile accident are:

“ Joseph LaBean, 11639 Turner Avenue is in Receiving Hospital with a skull fracture and internal injuries. He was struck at Collingwood and Broad Street at 10:30 P.M. Sunday while on his way home from a visit with relatives. The driver of the automobile did not stop. “8290
