In HEB-001 and other sources Jean Baptiste Prevost is sometimes called Joseph Prevost when referring to the marriage of Jean Baptiste Prevost and Augustine Ducrest. Joseph Prevost was a brother of Jean Baptiste Prevost1156,1157. The four times in the original record that this error occurred were in four consecutive baptismal records of the children of Jean Baptiste Prevost and Augustine Ducrest (Joseph, Louisa, Magdeleine, François). All four children were baptized on the same day (9 Aug 1800) and evidently the priest Father Michel Bernard Barriere made the same error consistently in all four records that day. The source of the error may be that the first child baptized was Joseph Prevost and the priest mistakenly called his father by the son’s name rather than the father’s correct name.
